A very warm welcome to Baldesque Sphynx.

My name is Laura and along with my ever increasing family of captivating baldies I live in the West Midlands with my husband Craig and our three teenage children Louie, Conor and Claudia..

Our first Sphynx girl came to us after much thought having lost our wonderful Staffie Samson two years previous and having thought we could never love again after our hearts were broken losing our boy to a tumour at the grand old age of sixteen ..The step was not an easy one but the house felt empty and we all yearned for a pet to spoil

My eldest son has an allergy to fur and his eyes would puff up around some animals so an alternative to the ferret he was keen to get was to be found and I was on a mission.

Please be aware that Sphynx cats are not hypo allergenic, despite the lack of hair. They still produce the allergy-causing dander and saliva.

My advise to you would be to get in touch with your nearest breeder and ask to spend some time around their Sphynx to see if you can be around these wondrous creatures without causing you a reaction .Which is exactly what we did before bringing Freya home with us.

We fell in love with Freya the first time we set eyes on her ,thank you Carole for such a delightful amazingly clever girl. We brought her home and happiness reigned once more in the Smith abode.

Sphynx should come with a WARNING -HIGHLY ADDICTIVE cause no sooner had we settled into happy pet loving my ever curious mind was also off learning all I could about the Sphynx and decided Freya needed a pal. You know for the odd hour here and there when we were all out LOL excuses excuses. I managed to persuade my hubby and he agreed to JUST ONE MORE..

Showing was also on my mind so I set about looking for Freya `s sister ..Along came Beaulah Boo

We have spent many a happy day showing, mainly Tica and sometimes Fife..

Boo has done us proud on many occasions and as now is Double Grand Champion Neuter in Tica and hopefully will continue to do well at show..

But showing is not just about winning its about learning .I believe that anyone who dares to create life has a responsibility to understand that their aims are correct and as such we sometimes have to look to breeders who have a long standing knowledge of the breed and also to the opinions of the judges to find ourselves on the right path and that we are offering something positive up to the breed and not for selfish gain..

That leads me straight to my mentor, yes I look to many for information and have many dear friends here in the UK, Belgium, Russia and America but one lady in particular has had the patience of a saint

...Anne Crookston

Anne Of Anubis Sphynx Cattery has been breeding Sphynx since 1991 and I have never met a more dedicated lover of the Sphynx. She is my inspiration ,she is a true friend. Anne has taken my obsession with this wonderful breed and given me the confidence to be part of creating what I hold above all other things the health ,happiness and type of the Sphynx .

Kweeva came to us in January 2007, a beautiful Seal tortie tabby white/point. Ramilypan Baldesque-a-pade, Thank you Jack and Phyl.

She is our first foundation queen, as her name implies - Bald - she is - escapade meaning our first adventure. You’ll find her on the Dolls page. She is also featured as Miss June in the 2008 Sphynx calender, all proceeds from this calendar are going to Winn Feline foundation to help try and develop a reliable DNA test to detect HCM ,the calendar was created by the lovely Kathy Russers of Cattery Zero Pelagio, link on links page obviously LOL. Please take a look.More on HCM can be found on the ‘Sphynx?’ page.

Kweeva has done very well at show, her first outing at a Fife show was the most memorable. The judge was so in love with her ,he loved her type , her size and even suggested she needed to go back to Spain with him. She won her class then went on in a Sphynx Special that day to be overall winner of the Sphynx.

Kweeva gave birth to a  beautiful litter back in January 08 and  every moment we spent with them will be cherished always .Baloo ,Dante, Baen  and  Tattoo grew to be lovely big chunky boys ,full of mischief and loads of affection .

Baloo and Baen have both done well at show .Baen in Tica and Baloo in Fife .Baloo followed in his Moms footsteps and at the age of 14 weeks won best  kitten and then took  Best in Catergory 3 and he was only a baby J

We decided Baen was the boy we would keep to further our breeding program and he is growing up just as we had hoped .See him on the Daddios page.

Thank you Jan for sharing your wonderful lines with us and for your continued support. Thank you for trusting me without doubt, and being there for us when Kweeva needed some loving.

Jan Plumb along with Angela Rushbrook brought the first Sphynx into the UK in 1988 and continue to strive for this breed 20 years on .
